On September 3, 2025, U.S. Senators Todd Young (R-Ind.), Chairman of the National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology (NSCEB) and Alex Padilla (D-Calif.), a Commissioner of the NSCEB, introduced a bipartisan package of six bills focused on strengthening and streamlining biotechnology applications in domestic food manufacturing and farming.
The proposed legislation is a critical part of building out regulatory and market readiness for the emerging U.S. biomanufacturing sector.
Padilla and Young will seek to include these bills in the upcoming Farm Bill.
